Hmm..

Hello, world!! It seems like it's been forever and a day since I've been on this thing. It's surprising that people still update on here. Well, I've moved to a new blog that I'm trying to update more often:

http://jadesiren.blogspot.com

Bye, bye Xanga.

You can run, you can hide, but you can't escape...

My attempts at ditching my Xanga fetish has been unsuccessful for the umpteenth time. No matter the amount of journals I start up, I keep reverting back to my roots. Gosh, how long have I been here?

As of late, I have been planning a road-trip on my own to Santa Barbara to enjoy a little R&R and simply get away from everything. The weather has been perking up so it will be nice to be able to lounge by the beach and explore the town. I've actually never been, so I have no idea what to expect. I imagine beautiful beaches neighbored by lush green hills.  I see a quaint town surrounded by Spanish-deco architecture, influenced by Catholic missionaries. I wonder how far my imagination is from reality.

Perhaps horse-back riding? Enjoy some vino? We'll see.

This Post-Secret post rings so true for me. A few years ago, my worst fear is to be abandoned or alone. I used to be the person that could never go without companionship. However, after being left behind, burned, abandoned and hurt by the importatnt people in my life, I no longer fear being alone. These days, I welcome and even embrace solitude because I am absolutely frightened with opening myself up and allowing myself to be vulnerable again. As of late, I have been betrayed and manipulated by people left and right -- people I sincerely care for and think highly of. I feel myself becoming more and more reclusive as days pass, and I hate it because this is not my nature at all. What happened to the bubbly, happy, sweet, thoughtful and always caring Nancy? I feel like she's dissipating into this fake shallow person that keeps up this front that nothing bothers her, and pretending that I'm not noticing that people are drifting away or betraying me. I don't know how to trust anyone anymore...

I'm Britney, BITCH!

Other than my birthday, Halloween is by far my second favorite holiday! That was an egocentric statement, but my birthday, is pretty much the shit! Mark it on your calendar and never forget it because when it's my day, the world revolves around me. Anyways, Halloween tops Christmas, Chinese New Years, Valentines day, and any and all national holidays for two important reasons.

Numero Uno: CANDY!

If you know me, I mean really know me, then you will automatically associate me as the sucker for the sucker. I have the biggest sweet tooth in the world! I looove most candy from airheads, fundips, poprock, ring pop, skittles, starbursts, red vines, all types of asian candies, confections, and chocolates. Love it all! I've had people love this quirk about me, because I instantaneously become the most happy go-lucky-girl flashing the thousand-watt smile to you when I am handed a sweet. On the other hand, I've also had people (okay more like one person) bitch and moan and cry to no end about my penchant for sweets. Either way, I L-O-V-E sweets! Yeah, I'll probably be that old lady with no teeth and a failing kidney, but I'll be one damn happy old lady smiling that toothless grin to ya until the grave if I'm enjoying my candy.

And most of all, it's pretty self-explanatory to say that I love Halloween for the COSTUMES! Dressing up is sooo much fun, but watching the sheer creativity of some folks is even more fun. Little Red Riding Hood with the ripped bloody wolf plushy, the "Mail-order bride", Steve Urkel, the politically incorrect American Indian, Dick in the box with 'treats'...the list is endless. And I enjoy seeing guys come up with funny costumes because I love the costumes that make me laugh. For girls, yes, Halloween is an excuse for a girl to dress as slutty as they want to be. But to be honest, it's so damn liberating, because for once it's okay to put aside the American puritanical hegemonic values of prudeness. The bleeding-heart feminist in me says to "the MAN", "STFU, you can't tell me what I should not wear", or in this case, should wear. So yeah, to that girl who wears only some nipple patches and the booty shorts, props to you girl-friend!

This year for Halloween, I had three different costumes. You're probably wondering: what the hell are you thinking? But, if you know me I'm the most indecisive person, so I honestly just couldn't make up my mind between two of my costumes because they were both awesome for entirely different reasons. And I had different occasions to wear them to, so I justified the investment.

Friday Night: Referee

I know it was the most common costume for ladies on Halloween. But how many of the girls frolicking around in their refs costumes actually know a thing or two about football? Better yet, dig it as much as I do? I don't fancy baseball nor basketball nearly as much as I do with football. Why? Because the inner-nerdo game theory strategist in me comes out when I watch the game. It is freaking beautiful to watch an execution of a play... football is war on so many levels. Getting off my tangent, since words never reach a deaf boys ears, the advantage to a ref's costume is that you can actually visually tell a boy "no" in a language that he should understand. Simply put, when a guy comes up to you and uses a cheesy pickup line, just show him

"Illegal pass"

If you're dancing with a boy, and his hands get a little too busy, give him the ol'

"Illegal use of hands and arms", shove him off with a 10-yard penalty, and peace out.

But for the rare occasion you meet someone worth the time...

Saturday: Slutty Marie Antoinette

I just fell in love with this costume because of the elaborate detail on this costume. You can't really see it in the picture, but on the few scraps of fabric that make the costume, there's a very pretty paisley print and pearls surrounding the bustier, with a nice Victorian centerpiece. And it's PINK, my favorite color! Granted, it is my most risque costume to date, but I caved to toning it down a little with my purple 'cloak' since Ms. Antoinette was royalty. I know I'm not blond nor pale but Marie is a rebel and so am I.

Halloween Night - the "New" Britney, bitch

Yea.. just threw this together on the fly because the costume was just chilling in my closet from last year, found my Gucci sunglasses, fishnets, and my Madden pinstripe peeptoes and just ran with it.

Hope your Halloween was as pleasant as mine. I can't wait til' next year!

DRESS TO IMPRESS.

It's that time of year again! Time to look for a nice cocktail dress for those upcoming yearly Company holiday balls! I don't feel like spending an exorbitant amount of money for dresses this year. In fact, I intend to mooch off my roommate Sarah's closet full of gorgeous evening gowns. But here are some gorgeous dresses from the 2008 Spring fashion line that are to die for! Great inspiration of what to look for when you're shopping for a dress.

The perfect sexy little black dress by Oscar De La Renta

Fantastic lilac A-line chiffon gown by Christian Dior. (Let me just say, I am in love with those shoes!)

Fabulously Ralph Lauren... this is the "it" dress of the season.

So beautiful. Simply elegant! This is my favorite dress out of the 2008 Spring Runway. Very classy.
